Office Services

Appointments

Please call our office at 703-933-0555 during regular business hours to schedule an appointment. Our office will do our best to accommodate your schedule and desired appointment time. For your convenience, we work extended hours on certain weekdays and offer Saturday hours twice a month. Our office will call to remind you of your appointment two days in advance. We also provide same-day and walk-in appointments for sick children.

We know that as parents life can sometimes be hectic, but we please ask that if you are running late, you call to notify us. If you are more than 15 minutes late, you may be asked to reschedule your appointment.

We are also aware that sometimes unforeseen events come up, and you may not be able to come to your appointment. We ask that if you will be unable to make it to your appointment, you please call us at least 24 hours in advance to notify us. Missed appointments or late cancellations will result in a no show fee.

After Hours

If your child has a life-threatening emergency, please call 911 immediately. If you have an urgent medical question after regular business hours, please call our office and follow the instructions on the voice message recording. The physician on call will return your call shortly. If you do not receive a call back in a reasonable amount of time and you see the potential for an emergency situation, please proceed to the emergency room.

All appointments, prescription refill requests, billing questions, and other routine questions are handled during our regular business hours.

If you have a quick follow up question for a nurse, we will take your message and have a nurse call you back within 24 hours.

If you have several medical questions for the doctor, please schedule an appointment.

Newborn Hospital Visits

Inova Fairfax HospitalOur physicians have privileges at , Inova Alexandria Hospital, and Virginia Hospital Center. Notify the hospital staff that you have chosen Dr. Andrawis as your baby’s pediatrician, and your newborn will be seen by him within 24 hours of delivery.

Office Orientation

We believe the relationship between doctor and patient is very important, therefore we are happy to offer complimentary office orientation visits for new patients and expecting parents. Simply call our office at 703-933-0555 to schedule the appointment. Come ready to ask any questions!

Referrals

In the event that your child needs to see a specialist for further evaluation or treatment, we will provide the necessary referral for the visit. Because many insurance companies require the primary care physician to authorize referrals, we must see your child in our office before we can provide you with the referral.

Prescription Refills

If you need a refill for your child’s prescription, please call the pharmacy and request that they send an electronic refill request to our office. The doctor will then either approve the request, or you will be asked to come in to the office for a visit.

Reach Out and Read

We believe in the importance of early child literacy and have been proud members of Reach out and Read (ROR) since the foundation of our practice. ROR is a non-profit organization that promotes early literacy by emphasizing to parents the importance of reading with their children from a young age. Through ROR we are able to encourage reading by giving each child from 6 months to 5 years of age a new, age-appropriate book at every well child visit. Patient Care

Well Child Visits

We offer well child checkups from birth through 21 years of age. These visits are critical to the health of your child, as they are the time when the doctors can ensure your child is maintaining the best health and detect any unnoticed problems. This is also when they will receive necessary immunizations. Click here to learn more about the immunizations your child will be getting. Routine screenings and procedures conducted during well child visits include:

– Computerized vision screening (SPOT Vision)
Fluoride varnishing for infants 6 months of age until 3 years of age
– Hearing screening for children of 3 years of age and above

We are happy to conduct school and sports physicals for your children. Please make sure to bring any necessary forms with you to the visit, with the parent section completed. We will complete the form within 2-5 days of drop off. Forms often accumulate and can be time consuming, so we charge a $10 fee per form.

Sick Child Visits

We realize your child can become sick at any time, so we offer same day appointments for sick children with complaints of cough, cold, wheezing, infections, injuries, abdominal pain, and other concerning symptoms.

Walk-in appointments are accepted. Depending on availability, we will see your child as soon as we can.

We have an on-site lab to aid in quick diagnosis of flu, strep throat, and RSV, and to conduct hemoglobin and urinalysis testing. We also provide in-office treatment of acute asthma attacks and utilize tympanometry to aid in proper diagnosis of ear infections.

Chronic Conditions

We follow specific protocols for treatment and follow up of various chronic conditions such as asthma, which is followed objectively using spirometry to assess clinical progress in patients.

If you are concerned about your child’s behavior and would like to assess them for ADHD, autism, or other behavioral problems, please call the office to schedule a consultation appointment.

Ear Piercing

Ear piercing is a medical procedure, that we are happy to perform in our office for infants as young as 4 months of age. We carry titanium, hypoallergenic earrings in your choice of color. Call our office during our regular business hours to schedule an ear piercing appointment.

Tongue Tie Clipping

A tongue tie can have a negative effect on the overall breastfeeding experience for both baby and mother by reducing the newborn’s satisfaction and causing varying degrees of pain to the mother. It may also affect a child’s pronunciation of certain letters in later stages of development. Tongue ties can be clipped in a short procedure performed in the exam room, resulting in relief of symptoms and an improved breastfeeding experience for both mother and baby.

Other Services

Some of our other services include:
– Removal of stitches
– Cryosurgery of common skin conditions, like warts
– Chemical cauterization of umbilical granulomas and other lesions
– Travel consultation/travel vaccines
